I hate to be one of those people who post negative reviews, but so far my experience with this product has been lackluster. I mainly wanted it for its cover art functionality, so thats what most of this review focuses on.
Pain Points:
- TuneUp has to import your entire library track list on every launch (10 seconds per 5000 tracks) which can get annoying if you have 10,000+ tracks.
- TuneUp is very buggy. It often sits at the "Connecting to TuneUps Servers" screen and needs to be killed (I have a 50mbps cable connection)
- To use the cover art feature, TuneUp searches your entire library for missing cover art every time you launch the program (you cant drag songs to search for cover art). I have just over 10,000 songs, with a few thousand missing cover art, and this process takes 5 minutes and 30 seconds every time I want to use the feature.
- When you decide to save the selected cover art to your music files, sometimes the album is removed from TuneUps missing cover art list but your files are not actually changed.
- The cover art feature will only look for missing album art. If you have albums with low-resolution artwork, you have to use iTunes (or some 3rd party tool) to wipe the existing album art, and then TuneUp will display those albums in its search results. Its also not great for albums with inconsistent artwork (some files of the album with artwork, and some without), as it will save new album art to only those files of the album that dont currently have any artwork.
